TUESDAY MORNING STUDIES

The Revelation of John and the Johannine Epistles - This class will begin the year with a study of the background, content and various interpretations of the Revelations of John and will then conclude the year with an examination of the Johannine Epistles (1, 2, and 3 John). Many shy away from these writings due to their bizarre imagery, but together we will seek to understand its original meaning and discover a sane interpretation for our day. This class is taught by Ronald Shive and meets on Tuesday mornings, September 22 - May 25. We gather for coffee and a ham biscuit at 6:45 am and conclude promptly at 7:45 am. Join us for a grand country breakfast to begin our new year on Tuesday, September 15th.

The Book of Joshua

If you were to name a book for a Bible character, who would it be? You might thing first of Joshua. He came nearly five hundred years after Abraham. Many a hero preceded him under the umbrella of God's promises.

Joshua is the first to a book in the Bible named for him. God chose him to lead a huge band of liberated slaves in to the Promised Land.

With the blessing of his hero, Joshua takes up where Moses leaves off, not as a prophet or priest, but hand-in-hand with the Commander of The Lord's army. Here we see Joshua leading the wilderness survivors as step-by-step they claim the promise of God for their very own.

For the first time in their long history they would become a "nation under God" living in the Land long since promised to the descendents of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The class is taught but Marion Currie and will be held on Tuesday mornings from 9:00-11:30 from September 8th - March 23rd.

TUESDAY EVENING STUDIES

Under the Tree of Life: A Study of Apocalyptic Literature in the Old Testament, The Gospel of John, John's letters and Revelation.

MENS' MORNING BIBLE STUDY

Each Tuesday morning, from September until May, a group of men gather for a time of coffee and light breakfast, fellowship and study. We gather at 6:45 a.m. in the John Knox Room, which is on the lower level of our education building. Our typical format is to have coffee and a biscuit together and to begin our study by 7:00 a.m. and conclude by 7:45 a.m.

This year our study will take us through the book of Matthew, usually studying about one chapter a week. The study is led by Ron Shive and discussion and questions are encouraged. While we focus on the text, we strive to leave with a thought that will challenge or enable us to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Please join us.
