At First Presbyterian Church, we strive to minister to college-age students in a variety of ways. We have two basic groups of college students:

“Youth Alumni” Who Are Away At College
We connect with our youth who are away at school by continuing to have contact with them and in helping them connect with campus ministries in their new area.

• Each fall and spring, the pastors travel to meet the students at school in Chapel Hill/Durham and Raleigh and take them out for dinner and a wonderful catch-up conversation. This is a wonderful time for the youth alumni to reconnect and to make connections with one another.
• Our annual Youth Alumni Christmas lunch takes place on a Sunday right before Christmas and is hosted by the Presbyterian Women. This year it will be on Sunday, December 16th.
• The Presbyterian Women also “take care” of our youth alumni by “adopting” a college student each year to send cards and packages throughout the year.
  

Elon Students and Other College Students Remaining In This Area
First Presbyterian Church seeks to minister to college students in our area by welcoming students in worship, fellowship, and education in our congregational life. We hope to be their "home church away from home," that can provide spiritual nourishment as well as opportunities for participating in all aspects of the life of the church.

• In 2007, we started a college Sunday School Class. It is a small group Bible Study. Our schedule follows Elon's schedule usually.
• We have an annual “Elon Welcome Lunch” in September for students. This year it will be on Sunday, September 2nd.
• We participate in several Elon activities: the kick-off Annual Organization Fair and the Winter Feast for freshmen.
• In the fall of 2005, we started a monthly Elon/College-age student lunch gathering at the home of church members. This meal is after the 11:00 a.m. service and provides a time of fellowship and devotion for Elon and other college-age students. Look to the website and other church publications for details.
