Jr. High Youth

Grades 6th through 8th

Got energy to burn and insight to explore?

We welcome all with open arms.  Because we are all created in the image of God and exist as God’s children, we strive to act as a family through faith, fellowship, worship, and service together.

We learn from one another.  In some of the most challenging developmental years in a person’s life, it is important to know you are not going through things alone.  For Sunday School, eighth graders going through Confirmation are in their own class, but for all other programs, we act as one.  Because each of us matures at many different levels, it is vital to leave space for exploration of various faith topics, biblical views, and general opinions.  All views are welcome as we continue to learn from one another and develop together.

We serve together.  Service and missions are at the heart of our Jr. High ministry.  We work with Loaves and Fishes, participate in CROP WALK, send care packages to college students, serve meals at Allied Churches Shelter, and take summer mission trips to places like Wilmington, NC, Washington D.C, Atlanta, GA, and Richmond, VA.  We take every opportunity to answer  God’s call to serve others.

We worship together.  Sunday morning worship services are only one way we come together to worship God.  We also sing together at Youth Group on Sunday nights and work together to present the Christmas Narrative with our Live Nativity.  Each opportunity we have to be together is a chance to worship God, whether in a sanctuary, at the lake, hiking in the mountains, or sitting down to eat.

We fellowship together.  You might walk in on an ice cream sundae relay race, a game of human foosball, balloon volleyball, or Gunky Twister.  You may witness a blur of sprayed snow from a fast skier on a steep slope; hear a scream for the rush of a mighty rapid while whitewater rafting; glance at a beautifully drawn picture or read a lovely story.  There is something for everyone to participate in and there is only one rule: full participation.  Whether the activity is your strength or not, we encourage everyone to try, because you just never know what God may do with your effort.

We travel together.  Traveling is not just about going away.  Our group does travel to Massanetta Middle School Conference in Harrisonburg, Virginia and travels each summer to serve the larger church with urban ministry organizations in various cities.  However, we also travel together in our faith journey.  We recognize that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link; therefore, we are committed to walking together in our faith journeys, keeping each other accountable, and praying for one another.
