2019 Resolutions & Stewardship

2019 is now on the horizon and soon there will be much talk about New Year’s resolutions. What will you commit yourself to accomplishing in the coming year — will it be to break an old habit or start a new one?

One of the best ways we can do something good for ourselves and for others is by giving. In their book The Paradox of Generosity: Giving We Receive, Grasping We Lose, co-authors Christian Smith and Hilary Davidson through a wealth of evidence show “a consistent link between demonstrating generosity and leading a better life: more generous people are happier, suffer fewer illnesses and injuries, live with a greater sense of purpose, and experience less depression.” As Christians, we know through scripture that we are called to share our blessings with others.

Why not make a positive start to the New Year right now? By making your 2019 pledge to First Presbyterian Church – Burlington, you are helping to improve educational outcomes for young children at risk, feed the hungry, provide beds and other furniture for families in need, provide facilities and programs to sustain our spiritual needs and so much more. You will also receive the benefits of being generous!
