Grow & Learn

“Where Children Learn While Playing”

First Presbyterian Playschool offers Preschool children and their families a high quality early childhood education that allows children to develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, creatively and spiritually in an environment that is safe, positive and nurturing. The Playschool staff seeks to model Christian character for children by being loving, kind, thoughtful and compassionate.

The curriculum provides a wide range of activities that are developmentally appropriate, child-centered, teacher directed and designed to make every child feel successful! We believe that children learn best through play based activities which include a balance of structure and free choice. Classroom routines include active involvement, meaningful exploration and reinforcement through repetition. Curriculum is developed based on the needs and interests of the children.

We believe we are in partnership with parents to nurture the growth of their preschool children therefore the Playschool Staff strives for positive relationships with parents. The Playschool has an active Parent Association that offers family functions and parental informational sessions throughout the year. Fundraising is accomplished by the parents by conducting its bi-annual Children’s Clothing and Toy Consignment Sale.

For more information, please contact the Playschool at or call the Playschool office at 226-0080.

First Presbyterian “Early Birds” Program

FP Playschool offers an “Early Bird” program to our parents who have a need to drop their child off to Playschool earlier than our regular drop off time of 8:50. While the program is offered to assist the working parent who needs to be at work before school starts, it is open to others who have the occasional conflict with a scheduled appointment. “Early Birds” does not offer curriculum to supplement the regular classroom! It is designed to offer your child a safe and nurturing place to be until the regular Playschool day starts! “Early Birds” starts at 7:45 a.m. and at 8:40 your child is moved to their regular classroom for the day. Cost is $6.00 for the hour but rates are prorated depending on the time you drop off. If you would like to know more about our “Early Birds” program please call 336- 228-0080 or email us at
