“Where Children Learn While Playing”
First Presbyterian Playschool offers preschool-aged children and their families a high quality early childhood education that allows children to develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, creatively, and spiritually in an environment that is safe, positive, and nurturing. The Playschool staff seeks to model Christian character for children by being loving, kind, thoughtful, and compassionate.
The curriculum provides a wide range of activities that are developmentally appropriate, child-centered, teacher-directed—all designed to make every child feel successful! We believe that children learn best through play-based activities, which include a balance of structure and free choice. Classroom routines include active involvement, meaningful exploration, and reinforcement through repetition. Curriculum is developed based on the needs and interests of the children.
We believe we are in partnership with parents to nurture the growth of their preschool-aged children; therefore, the Playschool Staff strives for positive relationships with parents. The Playschool has an active Parent Association that offers family functions and parental informational sessions throughout the year. Fundraising is accomplished by the parents by conducting its bi-annual Children’s Clothing and Toy Consignment Sale.
